In 1998, Dan received an "outstanding athlete" status in the military.
A few months later, Dan decided to give up the status and become a pilot
In 1999 Dan decided to retire from the pilot course and moved to serve in the special unit.
Dan insisted on doing "significant service." He fought on several fronts. 
In 2001, towards the end of his military service, he switched to developing advanced means of combat.
